South Lake Tahoe’s education needs are met by the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. The School district consists of 8 schools in total; South Tahoe High School, Mount Tallac High School, the Traditional Learning Center, South Tahoe Middle School, Lake Tahoe Magnet Elementary School, Sierra House Elementary School, Tahoe Valley Elementary School, Bijou Community School. In addition there are 3 private schools; Walden High School, St. Teresa School (elementary and middle), and Tahoe Montessori School.
South Lake Tahoe also offers numerous opportunities to obtain higher education. There are 3 community colleges, Lake Tahoe Community College right in the area, Western Nevada Community College a short 21 miles away in Carson City, NV, and Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV.
One could also enroll in a traditional 4 year college at nearby Sierra College in Rocklin, CA, American River College located in Sacramento, CA, Yuba College Marysville, CA, California State University-Sacramento in Sacramento, CA, or at Charles A Jones Skills And Business Ed Center in Sacramento, CA as well. All these colleges are within a couple hours drive of South Lake Tahoe making further your education easy.
